[Background]

This project involves the interior design of a store located inside the new “Michi-no-Eki Morioka Shibutami ‘Tamitto’,” scheduled to open in 2025 (Reiwa 7) in Morioka City. The store will focus on the sale and dining of dairy-based products including gelato, soft-serve ice cream, and cheese.

The shop offers a wide range of products such as gelato, soft serve, and cheese—all made from locally sourced milk produced in Morioka—as well as prepared meals featuring these dairy products. To express this diverse and energetic product concept in the spatial design, we used the phrase “Cross Milk Puzzle” as our central design theme and planned the entire space around it.

[Hightlight]

  • The main entrance shelving is designed like a crossword puzzle, using an orthogonal grid structure to create a visually playful, puzzle-like display

  • Kitchen and back-of-house areas incorporate exposed piping and equipment to reduce construction costs

  • A black-and-white cow pattern is introduced as the main visual theme of the signage, clearly communicating the store’s identity as a dairy-focused business

  • Bold accent colors at the cashier counter and the cow-patterned signage enhance the store’s overall visual impact and graphic identity
