【Background】

The "YADORIGI PROJECT" is a public-private partnership centered around Morioka’s shopping districts, aimed at discovering the city’s multifaceted charm while promoting the appeal of locally harvested timber. Continuing this initiative in 2025, NoMaDoS designed original structural furniture using local wood tailored specifically for Morioka’s commercial streets.

People gather around the furniture, and the furniture enfolds the people. Our design gives physical form to the sense of place created by this reciprocal interaction. Throughout the planning process, we conducted interviews with local merchants, hosted community workshops, and distributed surveys to thoroughly understand local needs. After extensive consultations regarding production quantity, forms, and event assembly methods, the furniture was brought to life.
